Mobile phones have become like an appendage for most people today. Not only do they keep us connected with the modern world 24/7 via phone and email, with the invention of mobiles apps there is literally now nothing they can’t do. Playing music, video conferencing, flying a drone helicopter… these are just a few of the limitless functions that mobile phones are now capable of executing.

Among the list of endless tasks that mobile phones can help us accomplish on a daily basis is business development. And when I say business development I don’t mean in the traditional sense of conducting a sales call or writing an email. I mean business development in a much more modern and creative sense. Being able to perform activities like running an online webinar, sharing valuable content with your network and researching a client or competitor are now at our fingertips every second of the day. This convenience allows us to leverage our downtime that would otherwise be spent waiting at the doctors office or commuting to work to find and nurture new business relationships.

Below is a short list of my favorite mobile apps that can be used for Social Selling on-the-go. Let me know if you’ve got any other cool recommendations via the comment box at the end of this post.

Feedly

Price Range: FREE – $
If you have read any of my past Social Selling Tool Kit posts you will know that this is not the first time Feedly has been featured. Feedly is an amazing content aggregator tool that allows users to pull RSS feeds from multiple sources and organize them under topic focus. I personally use Feedly to deliver me new content on a daily basis from Social Selling blogs and other areas of interest. It is the easiest way to stay on top of industry news and with its mobile counterpart you’ll never find yourself on-the-go without something interesting to read again.

LinkedIn

Price Range: FREE – $$
I’m sure this one goes without saying… If you have a LinkedIn account you should also have the LinkedIn mobile app on your phone so you can leverage the power of the world’s largest professional network every where you go. Perhaps you’re on your way to a tradeshow and you want to jog your memory on what your top 5 prospects that will be in attendance look like. Maybe you’re in the waiting room at a client’s office before a big meeting and you want to find some common interests to use for a conversation starter. What if you get a LinkedIn message from a hot potential buyer and you want to reply quickly before the opportunity gets cold? The LinkedIn mobile app allows you to do all of these things on the fly.

GoToMeeting

Price Range: $ – $$$
There are many web conferencing applications on the market today. GoToMeeting has so far been the best that I’ve used to join and/or host an online meeting via mobile phone. The app is stable, easy to use and even allows you to view other participants’ screens. You can also schedule meetings or start one at the click of a button and invite others to join you. This is an amazing app for sales professionals that need to be in multiple places at once. With the GoToMeeting app you could fly to Boston for a conference and still run a meeting with your clients located in San Fran. It is the ultimate way for modern sales reps to stay connected with clients and colleagues on-the-go.

Pocket

Price Range: FREE – $
Pocket is one of my favorite apps for storing multimedia content and syncing it tp your computer and phone for future reference. We’ve all been there… you’re reading an awesome article online when out of the blue all hell breaks loose and you have to drop everything for a client emergency. At the click of a button, pocket allows you to save that article to a cloud folder for future reading. You can also add tags to your article for easy referencing. Now when you do find time on your commute home to finish reading the article, just pull up the pocket app on your phone and there is the article waiting for you. Using Pocket is also a great way to store articles that you want to share with your networks at a future date which we all know is the cornerstone of Social Selling.

Salesforce1

Price Range: $$ – $$$
You’re out-of-office between meetings and all of a sudden you remember that you need to call one of your clients to confirm a couple details before they sign your contract. The only problem is all of their contact info is on your computer back at the office. Enter Salesforce1. Salesforce1 CRM is used by sales organizations around the world to track and analyze their day-to-day sales activity. It is filled with conversation records, contact details, lead entries, etc. With the Salesforce app you can leverage all of your company’s crucial sales records on the fly. This is 1 app that every sales rep should truly never leave home without.

Hootsuite

Price Range: FREE – $$
Hootsuite is an incredibly powerful Social Selling tool that allows users to save an enormous amount of time while both maximizing the engagement of their content sharing and socially listening to important business chatter. Similar to most of the other apps on the list, leveraging the Hootsuite mobile app allows you to do this all on the fly. With Hootsuite, you can take the industry content that is being delivered to you by Feedly, Google Alerts or Pocket and post it out to all of your social networks at once. Or better yet, you can schedule an entire weeks worth of content to share while on your way to the office Monday morning.
Hootsuite also has a very powerful social listening component to it. You can monitor the social posts of prospects, clients and competitors on your phone. You could even network with prospects who are at a conference that is on the other side of the continent by monitoring their unique hashtag. There are endless possibilities with this app.

CamCard

Price Range: FREE – $
CamCard is a digital business card storage app for your phone. If you are like me than you have likely gone to a networking event at some point, collected a bunch of valuable business cards to follow up with only to lose half of ‘em. It happens. Luckily CamCard allows you to take pictures of all the important business cards you collect and immediately turn them into contact records on your phone. Never worry about losing a business card again with this app that is essential to have for networking events.

I love this topic and I’d love to hear if you’ve got any other cool Social Selling mobile apps that you like using. Let me know via the comment box provided or click the “Let’s Talk Social Selling” button to schedule a quick introductory call together.
