Identify ProspectsIn today’s video I’m going to teach you one simple tip to start identifying prospects. Sounds crazy, but it’s true.

Think about what you do when you cold call: you’re trying to establish interest. How often do you need to call and how much time do you need to spend to get to ONE PERSON that is interested in exactly what you have to offer? That’s a rhetorical question, no need to answer.

Then consider the fact that there is a river of qualified buyers for what you have to offer and you’re not able to discover it. How can you get a hold of them? One way is Twitter.

Twitter isn’t just to share your LOLs and SMHs anymore. It’s a place where real business discussions are happening. If you haven’t tried it, I’d highly recommend you do so. And here’s a quick tip on how to get started.

A Real Life Example

I use this tip to also figure out who’s engaged in the content I’m writing. Check out this example. I use Topsy to find out who shared one of my blogs. Here it is:

Identify Prospects Twitter

As I dig in further, I find out who this person is. It turns out she’s the CMO of a major Insurance company. I wonder what prompted her to take valuable time out of her day to tweet a blog that I wrote. I think I’ll go find out now.

The Bottom Line

If you’ve liked this tip let me know. It’ll help you understand who’s out there and what’s happening. As you start sharing and writing your own content, use Topsy to view who has shared your content. You can also use this trick on industry leading blogs, publications and competitor blogs, too.

Social Media for Sales vs. Social Selling: What’s the Difference? [Infographic]
