Holiday Marketing

As I write this post, my team members are exchanging gifts and wishing each other happy holidays (write faster, Nerissa!). Outside of the office, friends and family are flying, driving and bussing home for the holidays. And, if you listen closely, you’ll hear the soft swipe, swipe, swipe of credit cards being charged.

Jam-packed weekends, nearly-missed deadlines and day-after regrets… it must be the holidays!

Content marketers are well-known for being a generous bunch, and no other time of the year is that more apparent than during the holidays. Even when it’s guaranteed that content marketers are probably at their busiest, you won’t find blogs and sites neglected.

Here’s some great B2B holiday content to get you in the spirit of the season.

For the GIFter in you

If you’re reading this, you are running short on time for buying gifts. But in case you do have a quick minute, or you’re like me and wait until the day after Christmas to do your gift shopping (hello, Boxing Day sales!), your fellow content marketers have the perfect ideas for what to get your colleagues.

For the marketer who won’t quit

Somewhere on the list of reasons why marketers love the holidays is the promise of time to catch up on tasks. Tweaking your editorial calendar, pre-writing blog posts, and re-purposing content — it’s all fair game over the holidays!

Your marketing strategy for the holidays has been drafted, approved and is set to run. So the last thing you need is another post about planning for the holidays, right?

What if I told you: your marketing plan isn’t taking a vacation?

Maybe you’re ready to devote your extra time to clients or leads, but you’re getting auto-responses and requests to “slow down”?

This post from Inbound.org (What to Do When Clients Want to “Pause” Marketing for the Holidays) has some great ideas for what to do on the marketing side when business dies down.

For example, Response #2: “Let’s capitalize on the downtime…” — if your prospect says they’re taking time off, use the opportunity to learn more about the prospect, and get prepared for how you’ll move forward in January.

Remember the time…

The end of the year is when the world takes a look back at what happened over the last twelve months — there will be some somber memories, some lessons learned and some laughs.

Marketers do the same thing, and dust off the old looking glass to predict what trends will take over our lives in the next year (and what we will never do again).
